3a. Communicating with Students
Communication was necessary to build rapport and respect with my students in my student teaching. Below is my greeting page to my students during my first day of my internship. I wanted the students to feel comfortable with who I am and feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
3c. Engaging Students in Learning
Engaging students in learning is important in my pedagogy for student understanding. Along with student engagement is student's represented in the lessons and class. Finding ways to include my students in the discussions to support them in learning new content . In order to engage my kindergarten students, I created the Treasure Hunt that explored our shapes. The Treasure Hunt used imagery, music, and story telling to get every student involved in the lesson.
3d. Using Assessment in Instruction
Assessment is used in my teaching pedagogy to monitor where my students are at in their learning process aligned with the content. Assessments are used to support and encourage student development. To the right are a few mid class check-ins designed for students (in order as they appear) 3rd, 2nd, and 1st grade.
3e. Demonstrating Flexibility and Responsiveness
As a teacher, I pride myself in my ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances and make seamless transitions into the work. During my internship, I was challenged with the constant changing school schedule due to COVID-19. Within my student teaching I had to change my already synchronous hybrid lessons to complete asynchronous remote lesson. I quickly found ways to upload videos, content, and assessments to my student' lesson
